Founded in 1960 by Charles F. "Fletch" Bryan, Jr.. State Janitorial Supply Co. began in a rented, 1000-foot structure on Division Street in downtown Dover, Delaware. By 1964, the Burgeoning operation had already outgrown the facility causing Bryan to consider a new location for the business.

Taking a chance by purchasing land on the north end of town, on what was then a very rural Route 13. Bryan erected a building four times the size of the original and rented space to house the rapidly escalating enterprise. As business grew so did the structure accommodating the company. The building was added onto in stages ending up as a 10,000-square-foot facility, encompassing the offices, warehouse and showroom of State Janitorial Supply Co..

The untimely death of its founder in 1977 placed David H. Bryan, Fletch Bryan's son, at the company's helm. David joined the firm in 1973 learning the business inside and out, from stocking warehouse shelves, selling products, driving delivery vans and handling office duties to overseeing construction on the building additions. It was soon apparent that although there was a need for more expansion, there was simply no more room at the Route 13 site.

Following his father's lead of 1964, David Bryan took a chance and built a completely new, state-of-the art warehouse, showroom and office complex at 24 Maggies Way in Dover, DE. State Janitorial Supply Co. opened their doors for business in October of 1998 at their new, 16,000-square-foot facility; a structure sixteen times larger than the initial rented space of 38 years ago! However, with the November 1998 acquisition of the assets of Holt Distributors, Inc., David once again found himself contemplating expansion.

With the completion of a warehouse addition in June of 2001, State Janitorial Supply Co. is proud of their 18,500-square-foot facility, coupled with their leading edge computer system and contemporary delivery fleet; State Janitorial Supply Co. is well equipped to serve you.
